Micetro 10.0: amping up the 'quick' in Quick Command

Inventing ways to be more efficient with the time spent on network management is an integral part of Men&Mice's vision for sustainable networking.

Building sustainable networks is a process. You have to overcome old habits that die hard, like using spreadsheets for IPAM or building your networks around hardware appliances. And even with the will to adopt new practices is a constant challenge as the continuously evolving nature of technology changes the tools you intend to use.

Inventing ways to be more efficient with your time is an integral part of our vision for sustainable networking. Developing Micetro was always about more than just keeping up with the inorganic "hardware": network management also requires the organic "software," meaning the network managers who'll have to make use of it. It’s a balance between maintaining stability and the unified overlay you came to depend on and continually improving the experience of using Micetro.

Quick(er) Command

One of the most appealing features of Micetro is the Quick Command. It allows you to find and interact with any object (be that a DNS zone, DHCP scope, IP address, or anything in-between) in your networks easily and intuitively.

In Micetro 10.0, we've improved this great feature, especially helping those managing multilayered, diverse DNS environments. From the release notes:

Quick Command now displays authority/view if it finds multiple copies of a zone to make it, well, quicker.

Let's say you have multiple DNS zones with the same name in different services. Before Micetro, you may have had to find it in a spreadsheet or across the separate control interfaces for each.

Micetro has changed that with Quick Command, saving you a considerable amount of time already. Micetro 10.0 goes even further by displaying authority and view so you can be even more efficient.

It's all at your fingertips, literally. And together with the (also improved) context-aware data display, the Micetro UI becomes an extension of you in the network. It's kind of like a superpower, really.
